The Red Feather Inn is a joy to savour and a memory to take home.
Originally built in 1842 as a coaching inn only 12 kms from Launceston, it was designed by architect John Sprunt using local sandstone and convict labour. Now 173 years further on, The Red Feather embodies distinctive luxury in a natural idyllic setting for that well deserved indulgence.
Proprietor Lydia Nettlefold has been responsible for the transformation. With a passion for excellence and an eye for discriminating detail, she has fashioned modern French provincial style comforts into a colonial setting. The historical feel remains undisturbed and is seamlessly in tune with the area.
And the passion doesn’t end there. The garden is beautiful designed and a charming retreat in itself, providing fresh produce for the highly acclaimed restaurant. Just another key reason to be here!
A further feature of the enterprise is the The Red Feather Cooking School where Lydia, the House Chef and visiting chefs combine to share their knowledge and expertise. The list of classes available is impressive.
The Red Feather Inn located in Hadspen, 15 minutes from the Launceston airport is the perfect location to explore Launceston and this historic region of northern Tasmania. Entally Estate, Woomers Estate and Brickendon Estate are all within a short driving distance. Details of The Red Feather Inn and the outstanding cooking school are available by clicking here.
